Against the flow

28 March 2011 | |

As an athlete (especially in a canoe) as much as I wish to always go with the flow the fact is this rarely happens. In a race it’s only once in a while you paddle a perfect run, if you even achieve that. And in life obstacles are probably more common than a perfectly paved road. But well, maybe that is what makes it interesting.

Last week I suffered another injury. After a really good start of the year it was a big slap in the face. During training I had to role on the course. Under water I felt something going wrong with my shoulder after witch I immediately quiet the session. Fortunately I could still move my arm pretty well but not without pain.

In the first place it didn’t look to bad, but after a few days and treatment the pain was still there. Today I had an MRI being made. Fortunately there is no major damage but a little ‘trauma’ could be seen as the doctors called it.

I planned a trip to Leipzig this week for training and racing. Instead I’ll be battling the flat water at home and work hard to get fit again soon.
